I recently managed to get hold of an Apple AirPort Extreme 6th generation. Now I can replace one of my Apple AirPort Extreme 5th generation. Not that this is necessarily necessary, because these are still functioning well.
Apple AirPort Extreme 6th generation – Wall Mount
The goal is to 3D print a flexible mounting system that attaches Apple AirPort Extreme directly to a wall, and simplifying installation. So at first I need the dimensions from the Apple AirPort Extreme.
Designing the wallmount
Then the design the wall Mount in Fusion 360. Fusion 360 is a 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool that connects your entire product development process in a single cloud-based platform that works on both Mac and PC. You can download it here.
Mounting Options
During the design of the Apple AirPort Extreme 6th generation wallmount I have taken into account several possibilities of mounting this mount.The Apple AirPort Extreme 6th generation wallmount is designed so that not all can be mounted upright but also against the ceiling for example, so the Apple AirPort Extreme 6th generation, as it were, hangs in the mount.
It is also possible to turn the airport a quarter turn so that the connection can be approached via another side.
